Drug and Alcohol Rehab Guide.

Here are some good questions to ask when looking for a treatment center for your friend or loved one.

These are some of the very questions we ask before we make referrals.

1. Does your treatment center use certified people?

You want the people doing the treatment to be properly trained and, you want the staff to be certified in what they are doing. You can learn more about certifications at the IC&RC web site. Ask to see staff certifications.

2. Is the treatment center approved by The Joint Commission?

Knowing they are approved will give you peace of mind.

3. What does the treatment center look like? Is it clean and well maintained?

If the treatment center is local it is not a bad idea to drive over and ask to review it, inside and out. However, it is not uncommon for the best treatment center to be out of state.

Many times out of state is best because it makes it very difficult for the addict to be enabled by friends or relatives attempting to sneak them contraband. The addict can focus on treatment and not on maintaining contact with the outside world.

Out of state treatment centers should be able to supply you with pictures and video of their facility, inside and out.

4. Do they take insurance?

Even if you are not paying with insurance you should be leery of any treatment center that wants a huge cash outlay up front but does not accept any kind of insurance.
